Notes:

  1. Variations / Options exist around CPU/RAM/Switch & SAN Sizing as well as swapping Fibre for 10Gbe

  3. Core counts of these servers is high to show the over throughput that could be achieved - Other variants with higher RAM counts and low CPU cores can be configured
  4. *SAN Data reduction ratios of 3:1 have been assumed, typically based on half coming from compression and the other half coming from block pattern deduplication
  5. In general commercial environments (eg 5% Exchange, 20% SQL, 20% File, and the remainder as Test/Dev/Operations) data reductions of 2.5 to 3:1 are typical
  6. Specific reductions of 8:1 or more for SQL/Oracle databases are not uncommon
  7. In the Test/Dev environment, we have seen reductions of 10:1 or more, where most of the machines are essentially clones of each other
