Our Backup projects for our customers range from:

• NHS Trusts (50TB of Backup, 250 TB of SANs)
• Multiple UK Legal firms where we have deployed global Backup implementations across offices in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, New York, Boston, Hong Kong
• A ‘big data’ scientific firm, backing up  360TB across 1Gbps links (and ongoing incrementals)
• Smaller London Banks and Investment houses
• Numerous smaller businesses with backup requirements of sub 20TB

Our work is mostly project led and we have carefully selected our technologies^[2] to cause the least possible issues for our clients.

Our aim is to establish customer relationships that can be retained for multiple years, with the hope we may advise and be a partner for future storage projects – as such our projects are implemented in a way that avoid financial or technical surprises to our customers, which would result in the end of any future relationship.

To do this we invest heavily in researching each technology we work with, using an internal backup ‘lab’ comprised of multiple ‘clones’ of a “model office” based on:

• Windows 2010 DAG pairs
• SQL Databases
• Active Directory
• Windows Server 2008 R2 File Servers, with DFS Replication
• VMware ESX 5.x
• Hyper-V 2012
• Simulated WAN links allowing variable latency and error/drop rates

At any time, there are 7-8 simultaneous versions of the model office running, across 24TB of SAN storage, upon which run the 4 major backup products we work with, and usually another 3-4 we continuously evaluate with an eye on the future.

For our larger customers, where we provide managed support, the lab is also used to test Software Vendors patches before these patches are applied to our customer’s environment.
